La propriété a été colonisée au 13ème siècle, exploitée par les moines qui ont établi et construit le monastère et l’église dans le village voisin de Valbonne. Au début du XIXe siècle, la propriété fut offerte par Napoléon à un général de son armée en récompense de ses services au combat. Il a nommé la Sylviane pour sa fille, Sylvie. Dans les années qui suivirent la 2ème guerre mondiale, La Sylviane devint la résidence des membres de la famille du Prince Rainier 111 de Monaco. Il a été vendu aux propriétaires actuels en 1973 et a été soigneusement conservé entre leurs mains, de père en fils, à ce jour. The property was settled in the 13th century, farmed by the monks who established and built the monastery and church in the nearby village of Val- bonne. In the early 19th century the property was offered by Napoleon to a general in his army as a reward for his services in battle. He named the Sylviane for his daughter, Sylvie. In the years following the 2nd world war La Sylviane became the residence of members of the the family of Prince Rainier 111 of Monaco. It was sold to the present owners in 1973 and has been carefully maintained in their hands, from father to son, to this day .
